Grace Koki Mutuku

Grace Koki Mutuku’s parents immigrated from Kenya, and she speaks English, Kikamba (a Kenyan tribal language), and Japanese. She has studied abroad in Kyoto, Japan. She received a Bachelor’s of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park. Mutuku’s interest in drawing began when she was eight years old and was inspired by Sailor Moon. She was moved by the art and wished to someday draw something as beautiful. Mutuku and her illustrations are influenced by prominent Japanese comic artists such as Tite Kubo, Takeshi Obata, and Masashi Kishimoto.
